TLA Wrap-Up

Last week, we exhibited our books in Houston, Texas, for the Texas Library Association conference. Here's the lovely Annick booth:

In the right-hand corner, you can see a laptop: that's where we invited people to come check out our free Book Talks, which you can download from our website. We were also giving away magnets to promote Erebos, food-shaped erasers to promote The World In Your Lunch Box, and an assortment of bookmarks for titles old and new.

One of the many highlights was Texas Teens 4 Libraries: we gave away 50 copies of Erebos to teens.

Thank you to the Texas Library Association for all their help, and to all the wonderful librarians, educators, and readers who stopped by our booth to chat and take a look at our new titles.

Judie Oron Goes to Washington

Author Judie Oron speaks at a previous event
Author Judie Oron will be speaking at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC, next Monday, April 23. (Click here to read an article about the upcoming talk, including more details about the time and location.) The focus of her talk will be the experiences that led to her writing The Cry of the Giraffe, a novel about an Ethiopian Jewish girl who is trying to rejoin her family in Israel. The book's protagonist, Wuditu, is based on one of Judie's adopted daughters, and this book trailer paints a vivid picture of her experiences:

Judie is an articulate, passionate speaker and this is a topic very close to her heart, so this will certainly be a captivating discussion!

Erebos on the Bestseller Wall at Kidsbooks!

Our associate publisher was thrilled to stop by Vancouver's largest independent children's bookstore, Kidsbooks, and discover that Erebos had claimed the #5 position on their Teen Bestsellers wall... right after the Hunger Games trilogy and Divergent (the first in another trilogy). Pretty impressive!
